COMELEC First Division Junked Disqualification Petitions Against Duterte

On Wednesday, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) First Division has denied all thepetitions that seek to disqualify Rodrigo Duterte in the Presidential Elections

The COMELEC First Division held a press conference and there, COMELEC Commissioner Christian Robert Lim has announced that the decision was unanimous and they all agreed to deny the four petitions against the Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte due to the lack of merit.

“The First Division has ruled to deny all petitions against Mayor Rodrigo Duterte,” Lim told the reporters

The decision of the poll body said that Martin Diño filed a valid certificate of candidacy for president and has also validly withdrew from the position to give way to Duterte.

They also found out that Duterte's substitution for Diño was clearly valid.

“He is still a candidate as we speak and we are now in the process of finalizing the list of candidates,” COMELEC Chair Andres Bautista said
