Filipino film and television director Wenn Deramas has died following a heart attack, said actor and comedian Vice Ganda on Twitter Monday morning, February 29. He was 49.
Deramas' friend, June Rufino, told ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) that he went to the hospital at 2am early Monday, February 29, and later, could not be revived. According to ANC tweets, Deramas "almost had a heart attack two years ago" and had an angioplasty the previous year.
Vice Ganda tweeted this:

(This is a very sad day. The grief is bone-deep. Goodbye to you, Direk Wenn. I love you very much.)
Star Cinema issued this statement:
"We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our Kapamilya Direk Wenn Deramas. Today we lost not just one of the greatest minds but a loving son, brother, friend.
"This is a sad day for the industry. He will forever be remembered."

Wenn directed Vice in a number of commercial hits like The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, Sisterakas, The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, and most recently, the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Beauty and the Bestie. He is also well known for a large body of work in the comedy genre, as well as horror.
