After 20 years on air, GMA Network’s late night musical-variety show “Walang Tulugan with Master Showman” is bidding goodbye.
With the death of the show’s main host German “Kuya Germs” Moreno,
“Walang Tulugan” will air its final episode on Saturday February 6,
2016.
Walang Tulugan started in 1997 and was originally titled “Master
Showman Presents”. With its late night time-slot (which cross overs
Saturday and Sunday), the network decided to incorporate “Walang
Tulugan” in the title because the public identified it as the show that
does not sleep.
For the past 20 years, Walang Tulugan has become a platform in
discovering new talents and artists that are currently making names for
themselves in the Philippine showbiz industry. Known as an ace star
builder, Kuya Germs (since “That’s Entertainment” days) has helped many
artists to find their place in the industry.
In an article by Aster Amoyo published on philstar.com Saturday
January 30, 2016, the veretan columnist (who is also part of Walang
Tulugan) said Kuya Germs’ lost has left a remarkable dent in Philippine
showbiz because of the help he rendered to many stars.
Some of the most notable artist who sourced their roots on Walang
Tulugan are Jake Vargas, Michael Pangilinan, Marlo Mortel, Ken Chan,
Teejay Marquez and Buboy Villar.
While the Superstar Nora Aunor (who pitch in for Kuya Germs as guest
host when he got sick) shared her willingness to continue the show and
the Master Showman’s advocacy in discovering and helping budding
Filipino artists, GMA Network decided to end the show on February 6,
2016.
Walang Tulugan’s current co-hosts include Shalala, John Nite,
Shermaine Santiago, Jackie Lou Blanco, Shirley Fuentes, Jake Vargas,
Eian Rances, Hiro Peralta, Jak Roberto, Teejay Marquez, Ken Chan, Rhen
Escaño.
Now that Kuya Germs has been laid to rest, it’s also rightful to give the show which is very much identified with him a rest.
